About Us
Starting in Ghana in 1947 as Taylor Woodrow, Taysec Construction Limited has over 65 years of continuous and successful operation in Ghana. Taysec Group currently operates under three main divisions namely, Taysec Construction, Taysec Homes and Taysec Facilities Management. Until 2009, Taysec was a wholly owned subsidiary of Taylor Wimpey Construction UK, part of the worldwide Taylor Woodrow Group with its Head Office in London.
Taylor Wimpey decided to divest its interest in Africa and sell its companies in Ghana to the then Directors which included Mr. Asuama Y. Abebrese. In 2013, Mr. Abebrese took over the shares of the other two Shareholders and therefore, became the sole owner of the Taysec Group of Companies. This milestone in Taysec’s development has helped to transform the whole business model and corporate strategy to respond to the realities of the construction market in Ghana in particular and Africa as a whole. Taysec has an enviable reputation for delivering quality projects to specification, within budget and time.
To assist with overseas support services such as procurement and speedy mobilisation of specialized personnel and equipment to augment our operations here in Ghana, we have maintained an administrative office at Stafford in the United Kingdom. We have also received and continue to receive informal technical advisory support from our former mother company Taylor Woodrow Construction in the United Kingdom.
Our existence in Ghana enables us to mobilise quickly and efficiently for projects. Many years of experience in Ghana, makes us very familiar with the capabilities and challenges of the local construction market. Each site management structure is peculiar to the type of project. As a rule, a Project Manager heads each site management with full decision-making powers regarding the running of the project. He is the single point of contact with the Client’s consultant/representative.
It is company policy to provide appropriate on-the-job training, in-house and external, as well as formal and informal, to all Taysec staff. The review of staff training requirements forms an integral part of the regular Taysec Staff Development and Performance Reviews.
Our vision is to be the acknowledged leader in construction services and project management in Africa, supporting the United Nations Millenuim Development Goals toward a world free from poverty. Delivering a more sustainabley built enviroment has become an aspiration for society as a whole and the principle is reflected in all TAYSEC operations and the training of staff to the highest professional standards. Enviromental stewardship is central to TAYSEC culture and the company recognises the need to minimise the enviromental impact of its operations and services.
